James A. Born in Chicago, Illinois,〔 McIntyre earned his A.B. in philosophy from Brown University in 1960.〔〔 After earning his LL.B. from Stanford Law School in 1963, he gained admission to the California State Bar, various United States district courts in California, and the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.〔〔〔
